Almost 1000 hours of coding to improve Customer Experience

What was our task?

Store platform working too slowly -> Replacement of the search engine with a faster and more efficient one, increased conversion -> Almost 1000 hours of coding and upgrading the Magento version to 2.3.1.
We live in instant times – we want everything around us to work as quickly as possible and without unnecessary delay, and for the effects to be immediately visible. Especially when it concerns online shopping, one of the many advantages of which is the ability to significantly save time.

The market offers us so many opportunities that if we are not entirely satisfied with the speed of the sales platform, we can easily change the brand to another one. To avoid such a scenario in the case of the sales platform of our client from the interior design industry – EZ Living Furniture – we have taken actions to improve the speed of the e-store.

Initial goals

  1. Increasing the efficiency of the store engine, including improving the handling of media files through the “skin” used and optimizing the operation of search terms, had a specific, quantifiable goal – in this case, we wanted to support the client in increasing sales, improving conversions and improving the Customer Experience of end customers EZ Living Furniture.
  2. We found the EZ Living Furniture sales platform with an engine operating well below customer expectations. The existing configuration significantly slowed down the website’s operation. Another problem was the suboptimal process of handling queries in the search engine, which often resulted in blocked access to the database and even to the store itself, which stopped working due to being overloaded with the number of queries. For this reason, final customers could be more likely not to make planned purchases and abandon their shopping carts.

How did we manage to achieve this?

After fully taking over the EZ Living Furniture platform, we had to work on the code. We devoted almost 1,000 hours of work to improving its quality and ultimately speeding up the operation of the sales platform. Currently, the store works much faster, and when a user enters any query into the search engine, the database collects these entries to build a group of important queries and, on its basis, allows building a list of products sought.

We have also changed the shopping path to one-step checkout, which significantly improves Customer Experience, allowing the customer to save time at the virtual checkout by providing him with all the information in one step. We also proposed and implemented upgrading the Magento version of the store to version 2.3.1.
