How we implemented a marketplace dedicated to entrepreneurs on Magento

What was our task?

Our Partner came to us because he wanted to open a marketplace and integrate it with online leasing provided by Credit Agricole EFL Leasing (European Leasing Fund).

Today, Vendora is a project belonging to Credit Agricole, which is intended to expand the company’s business capabilities, thus supporting enterprise financing and improving the work of leasing advisors. All this would not be possible without Magento and our experience with this platform.

Initial goals

  1. In order to successfully complete the task assigned to us by our Partner, we conducted joint workshops and collected the requirements and expectations of Vendora. We performed pre-implementation analysis and prepared all data models, business processes and infrastructure design.
  2. Since Magento is not created as a ready-made engine for a specific marketplace formula, we had to make this platform more flexible and adapt it to our Partner’s business requirements.

How did we manage to achieve this?

Our Partner proposed a ready-made list of additional modules for Magento – we analyzed it and proposed other solutions that we assessed as better suited – we know Magento so much that we were able to predict which modules could extend the work and ultimately not meet the expectations of our Partner.

The modules we chose to build a marketplace on Magento:

  1. A Magento extension module that enriches it with key features specific to marketplaces. Thanks to it, we were able to create a comprehensive seller panel with a full range of tools for managing the product offer and sales processes.
  2. An automatic order allocation module that allows users to make simultaneous purchases from several different sellers, which are then autonomously distributed into individual orders in the backend. This is a key functionality for marketplace platforms.
  3. A module that allows you to precisely determine the amount of commission that EFL collects from sellers in exchange for providing the platform.
  4. A dedicated module that generates monthly sales reports.
  5. A module enabling communication between sellers and buyers directly on the Vendora.pl website

Additionally, during this project we implemented the following elements:

  1. Our client independently prepared website mockups, which we verified and implemented.
  2. We have modified the API provided by the software supplier to better meet the requirements of our Partner and his plans and enable the integration of a large entrepreneur with Vendor’s API – we only used the basic functionalities, improving the integration possibilities ourselves.
  3. We have prepared integration with the payment system, expanded by us with a B2B module and integration with the online leasing tool and leasing calculator. We have also implemented the option of choosing payment through leasing.
  4. We have prepared an additional panel for suppliers, thanks to which each of them can independently manage products, deliveries and returns.
  5. We have implemented two-factor authentication, which is extremely important for a bank – now every customer and seller has the opportunity to fully secure their account.
  6. We ensured the implementation of the Omnibus Directive and the split payment mechanism (MPP).

Based on the expectations and experience of our clients, as well as taking into account trends and market research, we set ourselves the goal of implementing solutions supporting the conclusion of online transactions.

We wanted to build a space for our business partners and clients that would allow them to conclude transactions online with possible financing of these transactions using the financial services of the EFL Group. Hence the idea of the marketplace – an innovative solution on the market with a process enabling the entrepreneur to conclude a leasing contract 100% online, with an automatic credit decision, online identity confirmation and a contract signed with a qualified signature.

Implementing the project for Vendora.pl required us to work with Magento on slightly different principles, however, a balanced approach allowed us to effectively adapt the Magento platform to the needs of the marketplace being created.

Working for a client from the banking sector involves prioritizing security issues, so ensuring the highest data protection standards was crucial for each stage of implementation. We are proud that Vendora.pl has innovative security solutions that have passed rigorous tests. The Vendora.pl platform is a pioneering place for entrepreneurs that combines advanced technologies with the latest security standards.

How it works, i.e. the effect

We have implemented an efficient, functional and very secure Vendora.pl marketplace platform on Magento 2.4.5-p4. Now leasing payments from EFL have gained an additional platform for promotion, and leasing advisors can improve their work. Vendora.pl is also a benefit for sellers who have not yet had or planned to set up an online store – they can sell their products via the Vendora marketplace.
